𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗼𝗻 𝗕𝗼𝗮𝘁 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺: 𝗔 𝗗𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗧𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆For years, the idea of a constant National Team in Cyprus was just that—a dream. A vision clouded by obstacles, doubts, and the practicalities of making it work in a small country. But dreams, my friends, don’t become reality without brave hearts and strong leaders. It takes unwavering belief, bold action, and a community willing to rise above ego, misconceptions, and fear of sharing.Today, I stand proud as Chairwoman, on the verge of my departure, to say: 𝘄𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗱 𝗶𝘁. We wrote the scheme. We supported it. And we found the one coach willing to take on this challenge—not for himself, not for a single team, but for the common good of Cyprus. To Coach Simo Hill : your courage to step into this role, to work with integrity, to leave prejudice behind, and to share your knowledge selflessly is a testament to the strength of character and leadership our sport embodies. I will forever be grateful to have had you by my side to turn this dream into a reality. 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘁 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱.But this is not just about leadership; it’s about the fighters. Our paddlers, who have shown relentless spirit and unwavering commitment, are preparing for a challenge unlike any other—the World Championships in Brandenburg, Germany, next July. They have stayed the course, pushed through hardships, and poured their hearts into representing Cyprus. They are warriors who paddle not just for victory, but for the love of the sport, for their country, and for the dragon boat community. Now, it’s our turn to give back. Let us stand behind them as they strive to make history. Let us cheer for them louder than ever. Let us show them that we see their sacrifice, their dedication, and their courage. As I prepare to pass the torch, I feel an immense sense of pride knowing that this 𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗰𝘆 will carry on. This is my mark, my gift to this community, and my message to all of you: 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘄𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲, 𝘄𝗲 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗮𝗿 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝘃𝗲𝘀.To everyone in Cyprus and beyond, thank you for your unwavering support. This team carries your hopes, your cheers, and your pride with every stroke they make. Together, we are stronger. Together, we are unstoppable. 🇨🇾🐉💪With love and gratitude, Zacharoula ChristouChairwoman ... See MoreSee Less
